“One day a man was walking along the beach when he noticed a boy picking something up and gently throwing it into the ocean.
Approaching the boy, he asked, ‘What are you doing?’
The youth replied, ‘Throwing starfish back into the ocean.
The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.’
‘ Son,’ the man said, ‘don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make a difference!’
After listening politely, the boy bent down, picked up another starfish, and threw it back into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said…‘I made a difference for that one.’”
Although it doesn't seem like much, even one letter, one signature, one small action lets others know that you care, and when many people make that one small action, it comes together to create an impact!

Many animals suffer and die every year all in the name of Botox! Urge David Plott, CEO of Allergan (the manufacturer of Botox) to discontinue using the LD50 (Lethal Dose 50) test and to make the activities public, so we will actually know that Allergan is decreasing animal testing and searching for alternatives!

Encourage the Macon County Board to Revoke its New Policy that Provides Declawing of Cats as a Service to Adopters at the Animal Care and Control Center!
Though many people have mixed emotions about declawing cats, I personally do not agree with the practice for a number of reasons, and I'm hoping that readers will at least follow the following link to read up about declawing, and what it actually means to declaw a cat. When I went through orientation to volunteer at the SFSPCA, the person leading the orientation compared declawing a cat to removing the first joints on human fingers - declawing is a practice that is performed only to benefit human beings, and can actually serve as a disservice to any cat, particularly those that spend time outdoors, as the animal's only line of defense has been removed. I believe this is an important issue, and again, I hope the reader will visit the following site, and additional sites, to learn more about the practice and make an informed decision:

The Dominican Republic is setting out poison to take control of their rabies problem, indiscriminately killing all types of animals who then suffer to death. Send an electronic letter to government officials requesting that they stop poisoning and work together with organizations to find a better way to take control of their problem!

Because factory-farmed animals are living in such awful and filthy conditions, they are given mass doses of antibiotics daily to ward off the inevitable infection and disease that is produced. Unfortunately, this will lead to the creation of "suprebugs" that are immune to antibiotics. Send an electronic letter to Congress asking for support for The Preservation of Antibiotics for Medical Treatment Act, which would restrict the use of antibiotics in farm animals:
